With sadness and condolence, we give the news of the death of our founder and owner Dr. Matthias Scholz known. He died on April 3rd, 2020 at the age of 73.

He formed the company's fortunes for years. With his level-headed, calm and courageous manner, he laid the foundation for the LTB Group's success today. His entrepreneurial activity was determined by his high level of social commitment and his Christian sense of responsibility.

Until 1991 he worked in the former Academy of Sciences of the GDR with a focus on laser spectroscopy, most recently as head of the laser technology department at the center for scientific device construction. In 1990 he established the LTB Lasertechnik Berlin GmbH together with the founding members Dr. Stephan Mory +, Johannes Schurack and Claudia Scholz. In 2008, LTB Lasertechnik was transformed into a family business and LTB Holding was founded. Since then, he has managed the group of companies with his son Christian Scholz.

His ideas and decisions made a significant contribution to making LTB Lasertechnik Berlin GmbH the world leader in the field of nitrogen lasers and high-resolution spectrometers.

Even after retiring from day-to-day business and handing over the baton to his son Christian Scholz, he followed and accompanied the company's fortunes. Until the end, he was deeply involved in the research and development of "melanoma diagnostics", the realization of which was a matter close to his heart.

We regret the loss of someone who has made all decisions with the well-being of employees and partners in mind. The reputation and respect that he has acquired over the years in his company, in the Adlershof economic area and beyond, are the best recognition of this work.

We will continue his heritage in the best sense and with all our power.

Management and employees of the LTB group of companies
